ABOUT THE JOB:

As Assistant Restaurant Manager at Milly’s Bistro, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day running of the restaurant. Working closely with the management team, you’ll help lead service, support and develop the front-of-house team, and maintain the high standards that make Milly’s such a special place to dine.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll spend much of your time on the floor — hosting guests, guiding the team through busy services, and ensuring the restaurant operates smoothly from breakfast through to evening service. You’ll help drive service standards, support team development, and contribute to the continued success of the business.

Milly’s Bistro is part of Woodford — a growing collection of characterful places to eat, drink, and stay. You’ll be joining a team that takes pride in great food, thoughtful hospitality, and creating experiences guests want to return for.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY WILL INVOLVE:

  • Lead from the floor during service, ensuring a warm welcome and consistently high standards of hospitality.

  • Support the Restaurant Manager in the day-to-day running of the restaurant and wider food and beverage operation.

  • Be present on the floor during key service periods (12–2pm and 7–9pm as a minimum).

  • Host at least two breakfast shifts per week, ensuring guests start their day with great food and attentive service.

  • Complete at least three lock-ups per week, ensuring the restaurant is closed down safely and to company standards.

  • Train, support, and motivate the front-of-house team, ensuring new team members receive a thorough induction.

  • Deliver regular pre-service briefings so the team is informed, prepared, and ready for service.

  • Maintain strong communication between kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure smooth service delivery.

  • Assist with rota planning, staffing levels, and holiday management in line with business needs and budgets.

  • Monitor guest feedback and resolve any concerns promptly and professionally.

  • Maintain high standards of presentation across the restaurant, service stations, and guest areas.

  • Ensure all menus, specials boards, and displays are up to date and presented to the correct standard.

  • Support ordering, stock control, and stock takes to help meet food and beverage margin targets.

  • Uphold all licensing laws, Health & Safety, and food hygiene standards at all times.

  • Ensure the restaurant and surrounding areas are clean, tidy, and ready to welcome guests.

  • Assist with the organisation and delivery of private events and functions when required.

  • Work collaboratively with the wider Woodford team to deliver a consistently excellent guest experience.
